    If you want to get the bellhousing/flywheel/clutch back to original configuration, you will need the following items:

    1) bellhousing of GM CASTING numbers 3704922 (cast iron), 3733365 (cast iron), 3764591 (cast aluminum and the correct bellhousing for your 1960 application) or 3779553 (cast aluminum). The aluminum bellhousings are very hard to find and VERY expensive when you do;

    2) a 14", 168 tooth flywheel of GM casting #3729004. Long-since GM-discontinued;

    3) a 10" clutch assembly. Originals were "3 finger" style Borg and Beck. Some replacements may be diaphragm style. Long-since GM-discontinued.

    If you don't already have them, you will need the proper clutch cross shaft and clutch linkage. Most of this is available in reproduction

      If you don't care about originality, why are you replacing the flywheel and bell housing to do a clutch job? The flywheel and bell housing that you list - are they presently installed on your car and in working order?

      C1 flywheels also came on other Chevrolets. One came on the 1974 Camaro engine in my '62 Corvette. I believe Chevrolet today sells a replacement flywheel that'll work. The bell housing will be expensive. But one of the nice things about original parts is that you only have to buy them once.

        I replaced cracking flywheel with a Hays flywheel from Summit many years ago. At the time, I asked the board what the weight of a new flywheel was, and if I remember correctly, Joe Lucia was kind enough to weigh one from his vast parts inventory. I think it was about 28 lbs. At the time I was debating whether or not to go for something lighter than stock. But considering the poor low end torque of the Hi-po 283, I went with the 30 lb Hays flywheel.
