any reason I should buy 57 replacement delco shocks, that are not (spiral), if I can just buy monroe, the new delcos aren't orignal anyhow so would it be a big deal in any format of judging thanks
Paul
I think that there may be extra points allowed for Delco replacement shocks, even if they aren't properly dated, numbered, etc. I'm not sure about that, though, since I'm not involved in judging and don't closely follow related issues, such as this.
Notwithstanding the above, I believe that the intention of the "Delco replacement" shock thing is that the shocks will be stamped "Delco". Newer Delco shocks usually are NOT stamped "Delco" anymore (since, for the most part, they are no longer manufactured by Delco Chassis Division of DELPHI but are, instead, manufactured by Monroe [Federal Mogul] and Gabriel [Arvin-Meritor]). They often have "Delco" labels on them, though. With reagrd to points, I don't know if one would get more points for the shocks with the labels left intact (very un-original looking, for sure, since such labels were NEVER used on PRODUCTION shocks) or removing the labels (which "devoids" the shocks of all "proof" that they are Delco replacements).
Thanks Joe,
just something to ponder, these litle things seem to pop up quite often
I guess I should concentrate more on just getting the car running properly, but as always thank you for your imput
