    C2 - Another Urban Legend?

    Hi all -

I've heard that sometime during April of 1967, the Corvette production line in St. Louis ran out of 427 engines, and for a few short days, they were forced to install 327 engines into '67 Corvettes in order to maintain production. These few rare cars would have the big block hoods, the side pipes, and the bolt-on wheels just like all the other Corvettes produced that year. It's just that these 67's, if they even exist, have small blocks!

My question is this, does anyone have any documentation showing that any small block 67's were actually manufactured? Or were they all 427's as would seem to be the case today?

    Pete

I heard that those "special" cars were all coupes with the little known gull-wing door option.

They didn't run out of 427 engines however there were some small block cars that recd bb hoods due to some production problems
