C2 FRAME SLAG

I have done full restorations for a long, long time but have never been involved in judging and i am wondering if the judges look for the factory welding slag on the frame or if its better to clean it up. Thanks in advance to those of you that are in the know.

Leave the slag in place. NCRS judging is based on "as delivered by the dealer" and the slag came from the factory....

Howard, By all means leave the frame slag alone. When these frames were put together in those days slag was everywhere they welded. DO NOT grid off the slag. By no means were the frames perfect.

Howard, DO NOT take off the slag. Judges do not deduct for this. Slag was part of the process in those days. Welding machines in the 60's were not like the good ones of today. They welded these as fast as they could, and by no means were they made to look good. Good luck with your car.
