    C2 oil pan size

    63, 327 / 340

How do you tell a 6 qt pan from a 5 qt pan? Catalog for power steering conversion says 340+ cars need to swap 6 qt pan for 5 qt pan and change dipstick. (Clearance problems I assume) My engine is not original and I don't know which pan I have. (The car is going to be a driver and the PS will allow my wife to enjoy the car also)

Link to picture of pan in profile below.

    Steve,

You are in luck. The Pan you have is the correct 5 qt. piece if you want Power Steering.

Steve - the lower portion of the sump area exetends forward more on the 6 quart pan, which blocks the area where the steering linkage needs to traverse...Craig

          Steve----

Also, there is no difference in the dipstick or dipstick tube for a 5 quart or a 6 quart oil pan; they are the same for both.

Steve, the best I can recall, the sump, fron to back, on the smaller pan in 10.5 inches and the larger pan is 12 inches.

From the back of the pan to the front lip

where is goes up is 14" + or -, depending on where you sighted from.
