    C1 motor mount shims

The AIM mentions shims for the right side motor mount where it bolts to the frame rail. Are these special shims? Are they available anywhere? Thanks. Pat

Pat, Have not worked on a car that had any...

...shims in place. Actually I believe the AIM calls for longer bolts on the RH side to accomodate such shims. As a guess, if there was an issue of too much gap, I'd probably head for the flat washer department. Does the AIM call out a part # for the shims that you can find somewhere else for some other application in the AIM ?

My '62 had no shims but I believe the engine was out at one time.

I seem to recall a thread here that the shims were never used in production. Engineering had them released if the frame was outside of tolerances?

I have recently replaced the motor mounts on my 56. In completing the task I noted to line things up properly I needed some shims. My mounts were badly worn so I can't quite tell what kind of bind Bubba might have caused. I used regular front end alignment shims to make the adjustments.

Thanks guys. Mine is only out by 1/8" from the AIM recommendation so I will probably leave it. I noticed the bolt hole on the pass side of the front cross mount is bigger than the hole on the drivers side, is there a reason for that?
            Thanks again. Pat
