62 Corvette

Have not posted before so I hope my topic is appropriate. I am beginning my first restoration with a 62 vette that resided in a barn for about 37 years. I woul like recommendations from those with experience about a good chrome vendor. I live in the East Tennessee area about 1 hour east of Knoxville. I would prefer to deliver/pickup my work so I am looking for a shop in about a 200 mile radius. The reason I want to deliver/pick up is that I used to work with custom bikes and I have lost parts in the mail. I do not want to repeat this with my Corvette parts!

There is one shop near me in a small town called Elizabeton but I'm told they only do bumpers.

Obviously I'm looking for quality work. Any help would be appreciated... Thanks

Ron, Welcome aboard!!! Although I am somewhat of a newbie on this board myself, I have a couple of things in common with you. No. 1, I too own a 62 Vette, triple black, ex-fuelie, and about 95% re-done this winter. And, No. 2, my wife grew up in Kingsport near you and we lived in the Tri-Cities area for seven years back in the late 70's early 80's. My in-laws live in Kingsport and Greenville and we see them every year. If I can be of any help to you with the 62 and obtaining parts or advice, please do not hesitate to contact me direct. in the past 30 years, have sent out over 5000 pieces to be plated by Paul's in evans city, pa. he's never lost a piece. triple plating is always perfect and if not(only two pieces out of 5K-- a pair of 57 tail lites) he'll redo them at no charge. mike

Areba Services in Jackson, Tn. is very good and knows corvettes. Call Rick Applegate...731/422-0567 cell 731/499-2325. Rick also does door moldings with flash chrome, what a difference the flach chrome makes.
