The tack strip channel in my front bow is female dovetail shapped and the old tack strip was also dovetail shapped (male), as most of you already know. When put togeather this combination made for a very tight and strong fit needing very little glue. The new strip purchased today is quite narrow with straight sides and is held in place only with glue. This precess boths me, it doesn't seem possible that the adheisive alone could take the pressure of going 70mph with the windows down without tearing the top off. I tried using 3M super w/s adheisive, let dry overnight and with a little tug pull the strip off quite easily. I also tried the 3M super adheisive in the spray can. Does any one manufacture the original dovetail shaped front bow tack strip. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
