I have a early 1961 (serial #450). My car is presently at the restoration shop. They are having trouble mounting the top tank radiator. The fan shroud seems to be a problem. When they mount it one way the top hose is in the way of the shroud. If they position it higher the hood hits the radiator. Any pictures or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Joe

Re: C1 TOP TANK RADIATOR
Joe...
If you replaced the radiator core support, you may have the wrong one. I believe the top tank radiator used the same core as the early 61 brass radiators. I'm sure you car has the correct hood, however, the tank will be very close at the two top corners of a new radiator.- Top

Re: C1 TOP TANK RADIATOR
Dennis, The core supprot is the correct one. The radiator is mounted in the car. He is having trouble with the fan shroud. The top hose is hitting it. If he raises the radiator to where it clears the shroud, then the radiator hits the hood. It hits the hood by an inch. The hood won't close. The hood is also correct, I think it is a 1960. Thanks for your help, Joe- Top

Re: C1 TOP TANK RADIATOR
Joe,
Is the hood hitting the actual radiator or the support? If it is hitting the support where it jogs to the front, than the hood is a 59 hood and will not work. 59 and 60 hoods are pretty hard to tell apart, but the 60 hood has the front shelf moved forward to clear the new design radiator support. The support is the same basic design as the 61-62 support without the provisions for top and bottom mounting for the radiator. The top-tank support differs from the brass radiator in the top support bar. It jogs to the front on the aliminum radiator to accomodate the thicker radiator. In 61, the hood was further modified with a notch in the front shelf to clear the top clamp on later radiators.
