what is the cause of blisters to pop up on pot meatal chrome parts? can you rechrome them

The blisters are a by product of the pot metal "outgassing" over time. Yes, some chrome shops will fix the blisters by grinding them out and filling them before replating.

I'm having my '66 center console, hood grills (BB 427), radio static guard rechromed by a shop in Texas that does a good job on Pot metal. Speed Sport Chrome 713 921 0235.

I had my '64 console chromed by Bright Metal of The Heights in Houston with great results. Of course, it depends on what you start out with. A pitted piece of pot metal will likely not do too well. The owner, Gus Olivares, was somewhat reluclant to chrome the piece because it is pot metal but once it was done, he was satisfied as was I. He had a hard time understanding why I was going to apply paint over a portion of his chrome job!
