    wcfb stalls

My wcfb on my 60 runs and idles fine after initial start up. But when I start driving I find when I take my foot off the gas peddle say to stop at a traffic light or make a left or right turn the rpms will just fall off until the car very quickly stalls. This happened last week about 5 times on a short trip until I got the message and kept my foot lightly on the gas peddle when making turns and stops at lights. Having never adjusted metering rods, I was leary to try so I changed out the carb for my spare wcfb and the problem is now gone but here is my question . It has been suggested in the past that purhaps my metering rods are out of adjustment. After reading the service manual I have made some observations. One is that the problem must lie in the low speed idle circuit as this is the only function affected. SO I guess it could be the metering rod adjustment. I wonder if purhaps by readjusting the idle speed adjusting screws located at the front of the carbs throttle plate I would have corrected this problem? Could out of adjustment Idle speed screws cause this to happen?

I believe I'd check the idle speed and mixture settings first. If that's okay, check the float level. Metering rods are not part of the idle circuit.

Thanks Roy, I know I had hear this somewhere but don't think it's my particular problem as it stalls going straight or on left and right turns.

Check for a vacuum leak, particularly around the carb base to intake manifold. Good luck, Gary #5895....
