That's a bummer! I researched them last year and was very happy with the product and price. I was planning on purchasing next year...

Who's the leading American alternative now? I know there's a lot in the archives on this topic, but things are always changing.

I'd go to Backyard Buddy if looking for a drive-on. I bought an Autolifters 2 post a few years ago and is the slickest thing for pulling a body off a frame that I've ever seen or imagined.

Re: Sometimes, only the Name is the Same

Just before Christmas last year, there was a news article of a lady here in Chicago that pledged to only buy American products for her kids for Christmas. It was amazing what she simple couldn't buy ... Bicycles, baseballs, ...

I haven't been able to buy a domestic 63-67 Corvette tail lamp for a year or more. Unless you want one piece from ebay. They say it will return to the market, but I really wonder.

Found that Autolifters had gone belly up in May after trying to reach them for 2 days to place an order. Did a lot of research and settled on Autolifters because of their test results, use of American steel and being American made. Second choice (and what I purchased) was the BendPac 10,000 capacity, two post lift. No test results and I am not sure where the steel is from, but is American made (CA). Lift was delivered on schedule and I installed it by myself in two days. Works great and no quality problems.

I guess parts are gonna be a bit weird to find on a 2 year old, not made anymore, lift

I have a Bend Pak 4 post lift for about 6 months. No complaints and the price was very reasonable.

the EPA has put most of the american

smoke stack industries out of business and the next thing will be the coal fired power plants. when that happens you will need to dig out the old kerosene lamps because you will not be able to pay your electric bill. the enviro weenies will not allow atomic power plants, the price of oil is out of sight so be preparded to set in the dark. you better have your corvette lift down on the floor level when it happens or you will not be able to get it down. i forgot most of you guys do not drive them anyway.

I don't anticipate having to replace anything

on my M-6 two post. I installed it two years ago. Works perfect. For home use, the only thing you might wear out (have trouble with) is the pump or the cylinders. Both of these should be readily available elsewhere.

I'm glad I bought that brand. Looked like the best design and quality for the money. I've never understood how Back Yard Buddy can charge around $1000 more for similar lifts. I see nothing wrong with a BYB except the price. Maybe that's why they're still in business and Auto Lifter is gone.

I like many others will only buy American if at all possible. I research all the American made lift's and settled on Revolution. Made in Indiana and a bit more expensive but had the safety features I needed with small grandchilden around. Revolution is a part of the Rotary company. I didn't even look at imported lifts regardless of price.

I have an M-6 Autolifter since late 1998 and am very pleased with it. I did have some problems though and my experiance says that the weak link on these lifts are the pullys. I had 2 discintagrate while raising it. They replaced them but I tend to worry because they're made of plastic or heavy vinyl. I would bet that these parts interchange with other similar lifts. Just thought I'd pass that on.
