    factory alarm.

I am in the process of repairing my factory alarm on a 1975 stingray. The factory key is on the drivers side fender by the stingray emblem. I have replaced the horn on the back wheel well and checked the relay and blinker behind the passenger seat and all is ok. If i jump power from the battery to the relay it will go off beep intermitantly as it is designed to. So that makes me believe that the problem is from the relay forward to the key cylinder. I have replaced the switches in both doors (located by the door latch, not the hinges correct?) and under the hood, so that is ok. I believe that both wires to the key cylinder are hot anf if i would jump them the alarm would go off? I am not sure is that right. So where do I go from here. Replacing the key cylinder wont solve the problem if when jumped it does not work? It may need to be replaced to function but not is not the root of problem i believe. Any suggestions or course of action I should take to resolve this. Thank in advance for all the help from everyone.
