    C3 - Preserve / Restore

I have come across a 1976 Corvette coupe with less than 10K original miles and one owner. Although I already own a 68, which has been restored as a driver, I am not sure of the best way to handle this car. From reading through this web site and from what others have told me, I should have the care judge. The problem is I'm not sure of the best way to go about it or what type of events I should put the vehicle in. Also, having a vehicle with all the original paper work and with this type of mileage and the condition that goes along with it (9 out of 10) what would these events do for the value of this vehicle. Thanks...

A well kept original Corvette, with it's original paper work, will do nothing but increase in value. A car in this condition is a better investment than the stock market. The above is true even if you do not decide to show it. Show awards will certify its condition and originality at the time it was judged. Before you buy, have the car examined by a knowledgeable qualified individual who is not emotionally involved.

Ed, it sounds like that the car has Star/Bowtie award possibilities. All I would do is GENTLY clean the chassis and engine compartment with something like Ivory Liquid or Joy being careful to preserve the original finishes and markings. I would then register it for a chapter meet and have it Flight Judged. Usually at chapter meets there are enough qualified judges to give you an opinion of what to do with the car. If they also think that it has possibilities, register for a Regional meet and have the National Team leader look it over. He should be able to give you a fairly accurate opinion as to how it will fare in Star/Bowtie

Louis / Dick - Thank you very much for your advise. With that said I do believe I will just have to purchase my second C3... Thanks again...
