Tony: sounds like the cable has come loose from the mast assembly. I don't recall how it's attached, but I'm guessing it's a braze or solder connection.

You can find some pretty good articles in the Restorer on how to take your antenna apart. It's worth giving it a try before sending it off to Dale at OEM Glass, if he's even doing antennae any longer. Was never really a profitable service for him --just helping out the hobby.

The clicking you're hearing is the ball bearing clutch which slips at the end of the cable travel to prevent motor burnout or cable breakage.

If you do end up getting inside the thing, there's a nice customizing job you can to to the clutch. Put a bevel on the "bumps" to make the ball bearings ride over them more smoothly. You'll see what I mean if you review the articles.

Hopefully you have sidepipes. Makes getting at the antenna motor assy a WHOLE lot easier!

Have you gone back to whomever you purchased it from?
