    NCRS JUDGING GUIDANCE

Could someone please educate me to a general guideline for NCRS judging. What are the general rules about losing points during judging?

Specifically, I have a 1965 convertible which has been painted with a base coat/clear coat. I know that is incorrect for that year. What I would like to know is this. Is is possible to lose all originality points, yet still obtain some/all condition points if the paint job is nice?

Any knowledge or information shared is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

As a rule in NCRS judging if all originality points are deducted, all condition points are also deducted. This doesn't mean that you cannot achieve a top flight award for your 65. If you drive your car to an event, the driving points (one for every 100 miles) can easily make up for a full deduction for your paint. There are many cars being judged at every level with new base/clear paint.

You need to obtain the NCRS Judging Refernce Manual which is avaiable through the NCRS home office. (513-385-8536) To answer your question, we have a 10% rule which means in order to receive condition points you must achieve a minimum of 10% originality. Please feel free to contact me for a more detailed explanation.

Roy Sinor, our Judging Chairman had a very good posting a week or two ago stating that the Paint must APPEAR to be Original. Not too much clear such as gloss, depth, etc. and in the appropriate areas a dull un-rubbed finish.
