That's the old "non-original, hand-carved, perpindicular broach markings".

That was a pretty rough belt sander..... I think you can see some "real" broach marks at the right upper portion of the pad closest to the head.

You could throw a cat between those lines. But at the upcomming Barrett-Jackson it will be the RARE one of one pad.

Well, the guy says it is a replacement engine, but he thinks it is a factory replacement, when it was probably done in some guy's single car garage one weekend.

But like you said, somewhere, this car may show up with those "rare factory grinder marks" that proves it was a "factory fix it problem".

I wouldn't condem this pad just yet. I'd like to see factory grind outs prior to and after this example for comparision.

Depending which computer I use to look at this picture, is that a faint 'V' I see at the extreme left of the pad?

Could this be another Vonawanda engine?

Good eyes, except there are several previous stampings on the pad if you blow the picture up. Just to the right of what appears to be a "V" is a perfectly formed H with characters before and after..
