Re: "Tank Sheet " Info and Help
My tank sheet has the date recvd as 12-09-66 and the exp. date of prod.
as 01-20-66 (yes 66). Your dates are 2 days off highly unlikely. Also no evidence of where it was glued to the tank. I smell a Rat.- Top

Re: Hold On, I'll Fix That For Rick...
Well, using the "Expected Date of Production should be a Friday" test, this sticker would fail, as 4-19-67 was a Wednesday. But that is just one criteria item.
here's handy dandy day of the week program:
ps - no one said anything about when the order was typed, and the date of creation of the Order Copy is not shown in any event.65 MM Convertible, L76 (365 hp)- Top

Looks to good, got to be fake
The one on my '68 looks like they saturated it in glue, then baked it at 500 degrees for 5 days.
If it wasn't still on the tank and I had the tank since '77, I'd worry about mine.
I'll never remove mine, simply because I can't figure out how to without having a 10,000 piece jigsaw puzzle once it breaks loose.- Top

Re: "Tank Sheet " Info and Help
Rick, Tank stickers that I"ve seen (quite a few) all have an Expected date of Production to be a "Friday". They weren't necessarily typed on Friday.
I also noticed that the "date Received" and Expected Date.... are only 2 days apart on your sticker. Very highly unlikely as during that time, the time span between these dates is usually more like 4-6 weeks.
As far as the options that don't show, if it isn't on the sticker it didn't ship on the car. Afterall, this is the "bill of materials" sheet that the assy was made too......
WSW and power brakes and steering are very easy to add at a later date....
Your VIN # will give you a very close approximation of the build date as they were sequential and there are documents that indicate the Vin#'s built in a particuliar month.
I have seen Expected Production dates of Jan 66 for a 67 car. That is quite prevelant in Dec 66 Ordered cars. I believe that is the old "end year syndrome" when you need to adjust your thinking to the new year when writing a check and such. Probably back then the computers did'nt roll over to the year automatically and no one caught the error. I've seen this thru at least the 3rd week of Jan 67........
The penciled number should be 1 digit less than the last 3 numbers of the VIN, if those numbers are under 500...If the numbers are over 500 then subtract 500 from the last 3 digits less 1 more digit and that should be the penciled number. Your penciled number doesn't appear to be the same handwriting as most stickers either........ which typically look like the same person had this task for a long period of time........
I would judge this sticker as a reproduction......- Top

Re: "Tank Sheet " Info and Help
There is 1971 tank sticker shown on page 196 of the Vette Vues fact book.
It shows a date of 71/06/18..Date Received
It shows a date of 71/07/10..Exp. Date of Prod.
How would these dates work out?
The book was published back in 1985

Re: "Tank Sheet " Info and Help
Steve
Who says the received date or the Expected production date if posted on a tank sheet always falls on a Friday? I find it interesting especially if true.
On page 196 of the old 1985 edition vette vues 68-72 fact book for example there is a tank sheet that reads as follows for a 71 454/365
received date 71 / 06 / 18 ( Friday )
Exp. Date of prod. 71 / 07 / 10 ( Saturday )
What about production thanksgiving week when the plant was closed on Thursday and Friday? Then what day would the expected production date be on?- Top
