    Secondary Exhaust Pipe

I have two secondary exhaust pipes that I obtained from a friend. Can anyone tell me what year corvette they go on. Part numbers are 3863497 and 3863498. These have gm part number tags on them (they are carbon steel, not SS or Aluminized). I'm guessing anywhere from 63 to 69 but can't tell for sure. Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you very much. Wish they fit a 68, as that is what I have. My present exhaust is original, but getting rusty. Again, thanks

The differences between the 65-67 rear pipes and the 68-69 rear pipes are minor. You might be able to use the 65-67 pipes for the 68. I would lay the pipes side-by-side and see what differences would need to be accomodated.

I have used them, the '64-67 pipes are not squeezed as tightly in the areas under the strut rod bracket, and should flow better. they will fit if you are not real concerned about Ground clearance. I did it with a '68 400hp coupe I used for NCCC racing in the 70's.

I have also installed the mid year off road exhaust on 68-72 cars. Like Clup stated you loose a little ground clearance. Otherwise it is a bolt on fit. If you are concerned about the clearance, the pipes can be flattened

Then they look like (and flow like) '68 pipes-YUCK!! If clearance is a problem, trade then in undamaged form to a mid-year owner who can use them.

                Re: Secondary Exhaust Pipe

I checked out my 68 pipes and they are very solid but have surface are rust. No rust through, so I plan on taking them off the car and clean them up. Will put a SS or aluminized exhaust back on until the car is ready to be judged. If they clean up well, will probably see that a midyear owner gets the midyear pipes as they are the real deal. My guess is that there are not many out there not on cars.

                Thanks everyone for the help.
