    60 FI Hot start problem

is there anything that can be done against hot restart problems on a 1960 FI

if i shut the engine (when hot) and want to restart it again then most of the times it fails but if i wait aprox. 3 min or longer and try it again it starts

or does this just got to do with the fuel and percolation issue ?

    thanks in advance Sander

Do you hold the throttle wide open during hot restart? That is the proper procedure. Yes, percolation is the issue, normally.

I agree that percolation is the issue and you need to hold the throttle wide open. When my '60 does start (when the engine is warm and the air temp is hot), it is very "contrary" for a few minutes - until cooler fuel is pumped up. Don H.

Are you having trouble starting, or rough running once it starts? The typical problem with fuel injection is rough running after a hot start, that will last for a few seconds to a couple of minuets until you get some "cold" gas in the system. I have always found it worse in the winter than summer due to the fuel being formulated to vaporize at a lower temp in the winter. With "summer" gas, the problem was non existant.

One "trick" to help with this problem is the installation of a 57-59 style gasket between the adapter plate and the plennum. Some folks report that the full gasket helps keep the heat off the spider and the fuel bowl.

If you just have trouble getting it to start, be sure you open the throttle all the way.

Many dealers when you went back to them about that problem added the 57 to 59 1/8 gasket between the FI and intake to help stop that. The 59 had one originaly installed. See my post on FI's
