    Old TSB's

The orange-colored Technical Service Bulletins from the 40's, 50's and 60's all have "Technical Service Bulletin" across the top. Yet, in the upper right, where it has "Bulletin No.". some have a TSB prefix, others have a DR prefix, and are numbered differently. I have copies of some that are identical except one has a TSB no., the other a DR number.
Can someone help me out with the significance of the difference, and how/to whom each was distributed?
    Thanks!

Here's what TSB on Product Information says

Mike, I have most of the TSB's and Service News from '64 thru '68, and have noticed the dual numbering system. The best I can offer is an Oct 4 1966 explanation (itself in the form of TSB 67-I-1). the previous system is indirectly explained by describing new changes

"Effective immediately new bulletin formats will be used for information relative to the 1967 and prior models. There are four main categories of bulletins that will be published

    1. Chevrolet Service Technical Bulletin
    2. Chevrolet Dealer Service Information Bulletin
    3. Chevrolet Dealer Service Technical Bulletin
    4. Chevrolet Dealer Product Campaign Bulletin

The above four bulletin classifications will replace the Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) and Dealer Bulletin (DR) as used previously. (Whew, I'll have to summarize) TSB's only to Chev Service personnel; Chev Dealer Service Information and C.D.S. Technical Bulletin replace the former (DR), Dealer Bulletin. The latter only to Chev Service personel and to dealers".

It goes on to explain the new bulletin prefix and numbering system.

Sorry I couldn't type the whole thing, but you get the drift.

      Wayne--
Thanks! I have the orange TSB/DR from 1946 to 1966, and Service News from 55 yo 73--but in collating the orange ones, I couldn't tell whether I was missing any or not, because I have ones from each.

        Re: Old TSB's

Mike - Generally, it appears that Technical Service Bulletins that have the DR prefix go to ALL CHEVROLET DEALERS to ATTENTION: SERVICE MANAGER and those with the TSB prefix went to ALL CHEVROLET SERVICE PERSONNEL with a copy to TSB List; but that's not always the case and some with the DR prefix went to ALL CHEVROLET SERVICE PERSONNEL. So, there appears to be no easily identifiable scheme. I'm sure it was to fool the FORD guys.

On the numbering sequece there is a TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN, BULLETIN NO. SPECIAL, DATE october 29, 1965, with SUBJECT: TSB-DR BULLETIN SEQUENCE, TO: ALL CHEVROLET DEALERS that reads as follows:

Technical Service Bulletins and DR Bulletins have, in the past, been numbered conseecutively regardless of Model year with the numbers on the Technical Service Bulletins now in the 1100-1200 range and the DR Bulletinsin the 700-800 range................... Hereafter, Technical Service Bulletins and DR Bulletins will be numbered with the year prefix, followed by a dash and the consecutive numbers.

It still doesn't explain the difference between TSBs and DR Bulletins. Maybe it is rocket science!!!!!!!!!!!! Pete

Any of you seen the Dealer Product Campaign ...

... Bulletins ? I believe some gave the VIN's of the cars affected. (eg. those 40-something early production 396's with steering dampers installed).
