I found a smog pump, the number on the housing is "5896211", above that it say's "Sag". below the number is "6FB 3". there is a wagon wheel looking circle that has a 65 in the circle that would be the axel. There are also some marks that I can not make out at about 2 and 6 o'clock or maybe they are 12 and 4 o'clock. The back plate has the casting number "5696132". In another place it has a small wagon wheel with no circle in the middle where the axel would be, then D 7. On another flat there is a raised place that looks similiar to the casting number on a block with the shift clocks on the ends only smaller and a 98 or 86 in the middle. Can anyone help me find out what this is? It has 4 holes in the hub. This is getting pretty long, email me for more info. DALE

I can't tell you exactly what it is. However, it's likely a 1966-67 style pump for some application, GM or otherwise. If it has NO outlets off of the backing plate of the pump and has a "T" fitting off of the bottom of the aluminum housing, then it's a Corvette-only pump. If it does not have these features, then it's a non-Corvette pump for the 66-67 period. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: what is it? smog pump numbers
joe is right on as usual. if there were 4 holes drilled and tapped for the pulley on the shaft flange, its gotta be a 66 or 67 GM smog pump. if its got an outlet on the underside as joe alludes to, its gotta be a corvette 66 or 67 pump.mike- Top

Re: what is it? smog pump numbers
Mike and Joe, It has one large fitting on the back that lines up with the hose on the air filter base of the 327. It has the "T" fitting in bottom of the housing. However it has 2 holes in the back that have 3/4 inch( what look like freeze plugs). These plugs do not have any numbers or writing on them, as most I have seen. Any other ideas, as this looks nothing like anything K 19 in the books. Dale- Top

It's a 66-67 Corvette pump. The rear plate is seen both with unmachined outlet bosses and with bosses that have the holes machined, but soft plugs installed in them. There may be a julian date stamped somewhere on the aluminum housing. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
