It is probably possible for someone to replicate an engine stamping that is difficuly/impossible to detect. However, a 62 fuelie is difficult at best to clone out of a non-FI car due to the firewall dimples. It can be done, but someone will have to go to a lot of trouble to get it right. See July '04 Corvette Enthusiast for details, or if you don't have it, email me and I'll see if I can find the photos and email them to you.

Tell me more about the firewall dimples are they also on 58 to 60 firewalls? I have never seen them before.

This feature is unique to the 62. Previous carb cars had a generator driven tach, so the only ones to get a hole in the dash were the solid lifter fuelies. 62's all had distrubitor driven tachs, so there were two dimples molded in the firewall. On carb cars, the inboard dimple was cut out for the tach cable and on fuelies, the outboard dimple served as the locator for the cutout.
