C-1 windshield installation

I am installing a new rubber gasket on my '58 windshield and would like to know what sealants to use. ST-12 says to use a "medium bodied non-hardening sealer" between the glass and the rubber and to use a "medium bodied body sealer " between the assembly and the body. I searched archives and found one reference for a '63 that recommended the use of 3M Urethane sealer and primer between glass and rubber and 3M bedding and glazing compound between assembly and body. Any suggestions as to what products to use and any tips as to what to do or not to do when using the sealants would be appreciated.

I have never used any sealant between the gasket and glass on any of my C1 cars. I would guess that this about the last place one of these windshields would leak.

This is just another time when Vaselene can be...

...your best friend. I'd suggest it's use between glass and rubber to facilitate fitment without undue stress on stuff...

John, it is my understanding that the sealant between the glass and the rubber gasket is to prevent the rubber from wrinkling in the radius as it is prone to do.
