I am sending my intake and carbs on my 54 to Bob Kunz for a rebuild job. Bob told me to remove the intake and carbs as a single unit and mail it to him. I have removed all the connections and attaching nuts from the intake, but I cannot get the intake to separate from the head.
If I try to pull the intake out parallel to the ground, two bolts in the middle of the intake block the removal. See pic of bolts.
If I try to remove the intake manifold vertically to get over the bolts in the pics, something running from the head to the inside of the air intakes is blocking the removal.
The only solution I see to remove the intake manifold is to remove the exhaust manifold at the same time, and pull the exhaust/intake/carbs out horizontally.
Is this what I need to do, or am I missing something?
Thanks
Russ
