    c1 resto

I am restoring a 54 (3598) and noticed before the body removal the drivers side wheel was about 1" closer to the outside than the pass side. After body removal I noticed that the drivers side spring tower is further away from the frame rail than the pass side. It does not appear that the spring tower is bent, but has anyone noticed a difference in the two sides?

I am measuring a distance of 1-1/2" from the spring tower to the frame rail on the driver side and 1-3/4" on the pass side. Can someone measure theirs and let me know their measurement?

    Many thanks in advance!

;sounds like the old girl may have been in a collision previously. i'd go junklyarding and get a nice 49 thru 54 chevy pass car front crossmember. have you removed your front crossmember from the frame yet? if not, observe the relationship of the frame rails to the crossmember as you loosen the 16 bolts that fasten the crossmember to the frame. the gaps ought to be equal as you get the bolts loosend to the point where their nuts are finger tight on the bolts. ie, if the frame rails(horns) are twisted, the gaps will probably not be equal.good luck, mike
