need help - '78 auto trans gear selector indicator

I was replacing an aftermarket POS radio back to a factory radio in my '78. During this I of course removed the entire center gauge unit and bezel and had to loosen up the center console.
once everything was put back together now the gear indicator on the auto tranny shifter isn't working.

Of course i'll have to take everything apart again, at least the center console plate to see what's wrong but I have no idea what to look for.
Any hints or ideas what may have caused this to help me in my search and fix adventure on this latest problem?

nevermind, I found and fixed it.
turns out there is a part with a slot in it for the indicator and on the ****her there is a little post that is supposed to go into that slot.
When I was moving the trim plate around previuosly I must have moved it enough to let the post come out of the slot.
I got everything back correctly and it works fine now.
