    Flight judging a C4

I have a C4 that I want to get flight judged. It has B.F. Goodrich tires that were on it when I bought it,they are like new.It should have Eagle VR by Goodyear on it. They don't make these anymore. The manual say's that it will be a 90% deduct. What is the total point's that the car can recieve? And how much will 90% be in point's? Will I be able to obtain Top Flight with these tire's on it?Or do I need to get some Goodyear's that are closer to the V R'S? Thanks in advance for the help! Tom Stanton #41491

If all els is OK with your Corvette , you can show the Corvette with out any tires on blocks and get top flight

Other people here know all about that stuff and have the stats I dont know , I just know that you can be wrong about many things and still get top flight.
I lost points on three biggees and still made TF in my 55 vett.

          Tom -

You need the NCRS "1984-86 Corvette Technical Information Manual & Judging Guide" and the "Corvette Judging Reference Manual", both of which are available from the NCRS on-line store on this site (button at the top of the page). You also need a set of '84 Corvette judging sheets (for point allocation to each part/system), available via e-mail from Roy Sinor, National Judging Chairman - his contact info is under the "contacts" button on the home page.

I have the first edition, green cover information manual and judging guide for the 87-89 cars. But it does not answer the question's I have unless i'm missing something? I have read it and still don't see where it say's how many total point's you start with? And the deduct for tires would be 90%, but 90% of what? I'm confused. Tom

You need to email Roy Sinor for a copy of the judging sheets. They will show you the value assigned to each component. If you are serious about understanding how to get a tope flight, I would use these along with the judging manual to go over your entire car.

                Tom,

In NCRS judging all Corvettes start with 4500 points. There is an additional 10 points one can get by having a suitable fire extinguisher, NCRS decal, and battery cut-off switch. Points are then deducted based on deviations from originality and condition. The details of this system, as well as standard originality deductions for such items as window glass, battery, paint, and tires, are in the in the Judging Reference Manual which was one of the books suggested by one of the respondents above. Those kinds of details apply to all Corvettes that NCRS judges. The specific point assignments are in the judging score sheets for your year car, which are available as a PDF file from Roy Sinor.
So to have all the information one needs the TIM&JG, the Judging Reference Manual, and the judging score sheets.
                Terry
