    '71 Key Warning Buzzer.

Thanks to all who responded on the buzzer location.

I have verified that grounding the terminal the pink/blue wire is connected to, operates the buzzer.

Before I look at the steering column, how does the warning operate?

Does it buzz any time the key is in, or does a door have to be open?

I have heard that it is very hard to get to the switch on a tilt/tele, and may even require a special tool to remove the switch. Can anyone tell me how hard it might be?

I may just leave it alone. Sometimes it's better to leave a small item, than to
risk breaking something during the repair process.

    Thanks, Dennis

Power flows from the horn relay's key minder warning sub-system, to the steering column. In the column, there's a key minder switch that contacts the bottom side of the ignition switch cylinder. When a key is inserted in the ignition switch, it pushes out a plastic 'dimple' that contacts the key minder switch and closes it. Now, power flows through the switch and down the column to the LH door jamb switch.

When the door is opened, the door jam switch closes completing a path to ground. So, it takes two to 'tango'. There has to be a key in the ignition (regardless of ignition switch position), the key minder switch has to be intact (T/Tele columns are notorious for the switch to break over time), and the driver's door has to be opened to complete the path to ground and sound the buzzer.
