I am working on the body of my 68, and the original pop rivets seem different to anything I have been able to find. The originals seem to have a steeper head, more cone shaped and they seem rougher and less refined.
Anyone know where I can get pop rivets more like the originals? Or NOS rivets?
I purchased a bunch from "Rivets in Stock" hoping they would be what I was looking for, but no such luck. I intend on calling them on Monday to see if they have any suggestions. I'll also check with mcmaster.
I have saved some pop rivets from C-3 original trim tags so I have a good example. I have pop rivits in my shop that I have had for years and see no difference. You could try garage sales or anyone older than dirt may have just what you need. I am not sure what year pop rivets were invented but would like to know.
