Hi, I read a post a few weeks back here from someone trying to install a new dipstick tube. I thought "Great Timing" as I was getting ready to install a new one myself. I ordered from a very reputable aftermarket seller [I won`t mention name because it didn`t fit] I had a GM Resto part but it didn`t have the tapered end for my 65 smallblock so I had ordered this new one. I read alll the posts on freezing, blunt screwdriver, 1/2" wrench etc which were all good. I wire brushed the plating pretty heavy and put a slight bevel on the end before freezing. I wound up beating the little stop off mine after about an hour of trying. Yes I cleaned the hole previous to trying. wound up breaking the thing XO!XX/!#*. Took another 30 minutes to get the part that did go in back out. For kicks I took the GM Resto and tapped it right in [It was new also] I guess that I should try another supplier to see if it fits better [If they are not all mage by one Mfg/] or leave the wrong untapered one in. Is there only two of us that had this problem and/or is there a better solution. Thanks for your time, Mike
