Rebuilding a window reg. (c-3)

My power window regulator gear is stripped at the top position. I bought the add-on gear before I removed the regulator. Now that the regulator is out I notice that the spring is also missing. Is it possible to put on a new spring without repacing the rivet. If not, how hard is it to remove and replace the rivet and how do you set up the preloaded tension on the spring.

Also, do I need to replace the power motor with the gears in the same position or does it not make a differance?
