I have a 65 roadster which is leaking steering fluid pretty badly. It appears to be coming from the end of the valve that attaches to the steering linkage. I'm wondering in general if it's worth rebuilding (I understand these were always leakers) or should I just buy a new power steering kit like Zip Products offers for $389.00.

Re: leaking power steering valve
These control valves are relatively easy to rebuild. Iirc, Zip even has a "how to" on their web site. Two comments: take photos (digital preferred) and lots of them as you take things off or out of the PS control valve. that way you will have a digital record when you reassemble. Secondly, go to
and download the control valve procedures that Jim Shea has put there. In fact, download ALL of the steering articles relavent to your year. Jim is a retired engineer from the Saginaw division and they are the folks that built our steering components. If you can't find help in Jim's papers, then it just isn't your day.
