Re: What I found on my vacation..Part 1
One guy owns them all..( minus the 61 custom )
After 3 stops..I finally got a chance to talk with the owner who is a paint contractor near Smith Mountain Lake..outside Roanoke.
A little eccentric as you might imagine..but collecting some interesting cars. There was a also a black 68/69 Camaro...and his sons 55 Chevy.
The 68 427/390 was interesting and did have what appears to be the original engine based on the engine pad.
I did not get a chance to look under the hood of the 73..as two Rottweilers were guarding it.
The owner admitted everything is for sale..make an offer. He also said he knew the whereabouts of other interesting cars like a nice 37 truck, 50 Chevrolet coupe and more.
Another guy I visited had a very solid 56 4 door Chevy for sale, along with a complete 57 Chevy engine with 539 heads, and another 57 chevy engine under a tarp..along side a 57 coupe he was building into a hot rod and a beautiful 35 chevy hot rod.
He said his neighbor had a nice 57 Chevy and a 64 Corvette that were stored in his garage for the last 28 years.
Truly amazing what is out there.
My brother in law bought several hemi engines during the trip.
