    C1 Odometer Gears?

Can anyone tell me if there are odometer repair gears available anywhere? One vendor told me the whole unit would have to be rebuilt/replaced and that the gears are not separately available. Doesn't sound right? But some of you guys know I am sure. This is for a '57.
    Thanks,

Do you mean the trans gears, or the gears in the speedo?

      Bill,
I mean the odometer gears in the dash speedometer unit. My speedometer is working fine, but my odometer doesn't turn. So, before I take it out, I am thinking it probably will need the odometer gears replaced. Hoping to get some ideas where to get the parts? Or any other suggestions are welcome.
      Thanks
      Dave

        Dave,

If your lucky your problem is just the gear on the end odometer (see picture below). Any speedometer shop should be able to get a replacement odometer.

        Good luck,
        Bob

          Bob,

Thanks for the advice. Just what I needed! I will take it apart and see if that will do it.

              Roy,

I found that Zip carries the odometer part. The numbers look like the ones in Bob's picture. What do you think of it? Is it close enuf to get your nod?

              Thanks,

                  Roy,

I'm sorry. I am having trouble putting the picture up here due to my lack of skill. I emailed it to you instead.

                  Thanks,
                  Dave

                    Dave,

I know you asked the old pro (Roy) for his opinion but I thought I'd take a look too. The "6's" bottom loop looks a little thin on the Zip replacement to me. It's kind of hard to tell from the small picture.

Like I said I when to a local speedometer repair shop and they matched up the numbers and ask for my approval. I think they charged me $25. You could try Roy's suggestion and get an old 50's one but then you might wind up with the numbers cracking and falling off like the example I posted.

                      Bob,

I do appreciate your thoughts on it! Thanks for taking the time to examine it. I will check out the local shops as you suggested.
