I think it was Mark Smith who wrote an article looking at which carbs were made by Carter vs. Rochester vs. both. Some of the Q-jets were definitely one or the other (I think the BB carbs were the ones).
Don't be fooled by a restamp! Bring a Vette Views or other similar book to compare pictures to verify the carb "looks correct" even then, there's no guarantee it's not a more common carb that's been restamped.
