I recently purchased a 1967 Corvette with a 435hp engine. The block has been restamped to match the VIN which I knew about going in. I believe I have a real big block car for a few reasons. The car has big block u-joint caps, big block sway bars, etc.... In addition, the tach is a 6500 redline tach and it has an 80# oil gauge. I can't tell if the Transistor Ignition has been added and I can't tell if the car had a ballast resistor from the factory. (The car had a small block in it for about 15 years so someone added a ballast resistor). In addition, the wire clip under the driver side hood pin receiver has a screw holding it on so I don't know if that is original or not. Now here is my question: What else can I look for on the car that would tell me if the car was a 435hp from the factory? I don't have a tank sticker or owner history.
The back of the gauge pack is dated March 01, 1967 and the car is a mid March 67 car. What tach number should appear on that white sticker on the back of the gauge pack for a 6500 rpm tach? That sticker is still in place and looks to be original.
Any 435hp experts out there?
