How to verify a true 435hp 1967 car

I recently purchased a 1967 Corvette with a 435hp engine. The block has been restamped to match the VIN which I knew about going in. I believe I have a real big block car for a few reasons. The car has big block u-joint caps, big block sway bars, etc.... In addition, the tach is a 6500 redline tach and it has an 80# oil gauge. I can't tell if the Transistor Ignition has been added and I can't tell if the car had a ballast resistor from the factory. (The car had a small block in it for about 15 years so someone added a ballast resistor). In addition, the wire clip under the driver side hood pin receiver has a screw holding it on so I don't know if that is original or not. Now here is my question: What else can I look for on the car that would tell me if the car was a 435hp from the factory? I don't have a tank sticker or owner history.
The back of the gauge pack is dated March 01, 1967 and the car is a mid March 67 car. What tach number should appear on that white sticker on the back of the gauge pack for a 6500 rpm tach? That sticker is still in place and looks to be original.
    Any 435hp experts out there?

There are many things to look for, but, in the end, it's all a game of 'forensic' inference and if someone was VERY meticulous in the car's prior restoration, you simply won't be able to tell. That's why on rather rare cars like yours the truly serious buyers insist on tank sticker, original bill of sale/dealer order documents and prior owner affidavits...

Jack makes several great points. With 67 435s you have to be extremely careful as there are lots of bogus cars out there. I am NOT saying that yours falls in that catagory, just making an observation. I think that it is very important to get involved in the hobby and ask questions and talk to as many knowledgable people as posssible with regards to these cars.

Why not look and see if the build sheet is still attached to the fuel tank.

          Steve,

My 67 427/435 cluster shows "LB" on the sticker attached to the back of the guage cluster. The cluster is dated "MAR 16 1967 022".

          Cluster 6457964
          Speedo 6455357 W
          Tach 6412223 W

          Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply. The back of my dash has a LB sticker dated early March 1967 for a mid March 1967 car. My VIN is 13,670 which I figure the car was build around the middle of the month. On the LB sticker, I have the same tach number 6412223 so I'm pretty sure I'm okay with this car and its a real 435. The tank sticker is long gone and so is the gas tank.
