I have a simple question. I have two pitman arms for my 69. How can you tell the difference between a power steering and manual steering pitman arm? Thanks in advance.

The easiset way to differentiate between them is the forging number usually found on the arms. The power steering arm has forging number 3741383. The manual steering arm usually carries forging number 3829451.
The configuration of these arms is very similar on first glance, but if you compare them side-by-side you will notice significant differences. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: Steering Pitman Arm
I indirectly learned something from a thread last week about how rude some suppliers were. It was mentioned the supplier had a very well illustrated catalog. I found one of his ads and lo and behold it had the answer to a question that I didn't even know how to ask. It showed the heat shield for the reverse switch on my transmission. I couldn't figure out where it came from until seeing the ad.
If you have a Zip catalog, they have the 2 pittman arms on page 215. Their supposed to be reconditioned ones and you can tell they are different. The catalogs combined with service manuals and AIM AND ALL OF THE HELP I GET FROM THIS BOARD are keeping me from have a basket of parts instead of a driveable Vette.- Top
