The tank vent hose should terminate inside the filler cavity just beyond the clamp that retains it; if it continues through the drain hole, the drain function is defeated. The filler cavity drain hole should have a plastic nipple glued in it, and there should be a rubber drain hose from the bottom of the nipple through a 1" grommet in the underbody just forward of the rear spring front mount so spilled/dribbled fuel drains out on the road.
If the drain hose is missing (and most are), spilled/dribbled fuel will pool inside the underbody and stink up the cockpit.- Top

Re: C1 62 gas vent hose
My explanation was messed up. I turned the car around in the garage and front and rear got messed up!!
The vent hose comes in from the top rear, makes a quick downward run around the rear of the filler neck and then forward under it with a hose clamp bolted under the filler neck. It then goes into the tank hold thru a hole. Please let me know if the picture is correct.

Here's a photo from underneath showing the hole for the grommet that the drain hose goes through.

Re: C1 62 gas vent hose
I think I have this thing figured out. Boy, I cannot assume anything is right on my car. Got a few pics from Dick. The vent hose goes over the top of the filler pipe and stops. A fuel filler vent tube goes out of the hole in the lower corner and is attached via a nipple, which I do not have.
Only question I have is should the hole in the hold that the overflow hose goes out of have a rubber grommet? I would not think it was needed.
I have posted Dick's photos for posterity. user/password is chenige/chenige
Thanks, everyone.

Re: C1 62 gas vent hose
John, I believe you may be incorrect on this hole needing a grommet. I bought both the nipple that fit into the hole in my gas filler door and a vent hose form Paragon. The hose is a large diameter/thin wall hose to go over the nipple and pretty much is the size of the hole you had the picture of. So there is no room for a grommet and the hose is not exactly snug but would not be able to move around much.
thanks for all the help!
