My wiper system has stopped working. I have a new actuator and it was working after instalation. As of today when i slide the switch to any position, nothing happens. the door does not open. I took the switch out and checked it, the problem is i dont knowwich terminal s should have power. The switch only has power in the middle position.,nothing in the off position or the high speed position. I do have power when you push in the switch for the washer system. I hate to buy the switch ($60) if it is something else. Any electricians out there??

Re: 71 wiper control switch
Jeff-----
Make sure that the switch is mounted to the dash plate and that it is thusly securely grounded. My recollection is that the there is not a seperate grounding wire used with this switch and that the completion of the circuit to ground is accomplished through the dash plate to which the switch is affixed. I could be mistaken, but that's what I recall without references available to me at the moment. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: 71 wiper control switch
Jeff because you said it worked after installation and not knowing you I must ask that you check the middle switch under your steering column. This switch is there for one purpose, to stop the wiindshield wipers up on the windshield so that you can change the wiper blades. This switch has two positions on and off. If someone has changed its position to on, your wipers will not operate. The switch operation should be in your 71 owners manual. Its in my 70's. My post here is assuming that you do not know about the function of this switch.- Top
