Below is the reply I just received from Chuck on this issue.
Now I must find a PF-29
Kurt,
The correct filter is the PF29. Until the manual is revised we will accept either the PF25 or the PF29.

As further evidence that the PF-29 is correct for the the 1968 Corvette, I have an AC Filter Catalog dated January, 1969 that specifies both the PF-29 and PF-25 for the 1968 model while specifying only the PF-25 for the 1969 model. This suggests the PF-29 was original equipment on the 1968 model and was superceded by the PF-25 in 1969 when the PF-25 became original equipment on the 1969 model. As Joe points out, early 1969's may have used PF-29's but no documentation has surfaced to my knowledge.
Also, in the last few days I saw a close-up picture of a PF-25 and stasmped on the side of the PF-25 is said that ut reolaces or supercedes or something like that the PF-11 and PF-29 so clearly the PF-25 came AFTER the other two.
