unless you drive in level country using the

cruise control get worse mileage because it do not anticipate the hills and ends up down shifting. i have tried this going to bowling green from pa. and it makes almost 2 MPG difference.

Re: unless you drive in level country using the

Clem I have a 6-speed manual, so any downshifting is going to be by me. My LT4 is turning about 1700 rpms at 70 in sixth. I generally don't downshift unless the speed drops to less than 60 mph or unless I need some stronger acceleration.

Hmmm...96 LT4, that's means it's a Collector Edition or a Gran Sport? The 96 Collector Edition with the optional LT4...my all-time favorite late-model (Except for the C6. ). It was the last effort to get in the old models sales before the new body style was introduced...kind of like the 67. Collector Edition/LT4 IS the C4 to own IMO.

Hey, Jim, is this yer first late model? Dude...They just keep getting better; the C6 is "The Best Vette Yet". Nostalgia makes you love the old ones, but the soft, lazy man inside of us crave the late models for sheer driving comfort and fuel economy.

Corvette's busting the window sticker numbers all to heck has spoiled me...I will never again knowingly buy a car (read Impala V6) that actually gets half the mileage touted on the window sticker...been there, done that. Might as well spring for the LS2 if you can get it; far superior engine plus neck-snapping performance.

i am too old to shift gears. the last stick i

owned was a 1981 citation X-11 in 81. looks like i may have to get my left knee replaced if i want a new ZO-6.

Clem get the Z06, with a hydralic clutch it will be easy on the knee. With the power the car has you don't have to use all the gear selection. My LT4 will take off in second from a stop with no problems. Not somthing I do, but it has happened. I perfer driving my LT4 without my shoe on for clutch operation.
Chuck my LT4 is a white 96 Corvette with all black interior, blue tinted glass top coupe and standard wheels. The Collector Edition is nice, like the color. Would of got one but I already had a silver 85.
