Clem, Great pictures. After you see these it helps one understand why GM needed a new assembly factory. I wonder if they ever cleaned the body dollies? Looks like there must be 50 lbs of body assembly and prep material on them.- Top

Probably The Best Info...
Ever seen on Forum Conti. Those photographs are too comprehensive to have been taken by anyone except an employee...even then, it was probably "on the sly" without management approval.
Companies just don't allow outsiders to take photographs; you would think the processes would have no industrial espionage value to anyone in the car business. Bowling Green doesn't allow cameras, and non-company visitors aren't even allowed in some areas of the plant.
What model year is that on the line, 81s?...Somebody must have been waxing nostalgic about leaving the St. Louis plant behind; maybe it was a farewell swan song documentation.- Top

A power washer wouldn't touch any of that buildup - it's solid polyester resin; it had to be chiseled off - when manpower was available - and wasn't a big priority. Chevrolet never put a dime into the Corvette plant they didn't absolutely have to in order to keep it running, and the passenger car/truck plant next door wasn't much better - just a LOT bigger.- Top
