    60 front fender trim

I am in the process of removing my stainless fender trim(both upper and lower) to address some minor indentations. Removing the top piece was easy, as the nuts were accessible under the fender and behind the cowl side kick panels. The lower trim is a different story. My AIM illustrates the front two fasteners to be screw and nut, as in the top. This is not the case on my car. It appears that all the fasteners are self-tapping screws with retainers, shown to be the rear two fasteners in the AIM. My question is, how do I remove the trim without damaging it? Is there a tool for this, or a method that I am not thinking of? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Terry Martin

    Terry:
You should have had a screw/retainer setup on the top trim by the door. Since the concept is to "pop-on" the trim, removing it carries the same concept. I was able to push up on the trim at the retainer, while using a bent blade putty knife on the upper edge to pop the trim off. Tape the body above the retainer to prevent scratching the paint by the putty knife.
    Good luck
