    '64 brake hardware

The hardware kit I purchased includes two oval black plastic pieces. slot on one side looks like it could go over the end of something, but I see no sign of them on my brakes (front or rear) and cannot locate them in the shop manual pics. What are they for? Or are they just extra pieces from a generic hardware kit (like the extra pins)?

    That's a weather plug

It's used to seal out water/debris from the brake system. They fill the racetrack you'll find in either your brake backing plate or your drum, depending on make/model of your car. I think some cars still have a slug in this location and it's knocked out the first time you want to manually adjust the brakes.
