I recently purchased 2 used original style caps with discernable differences.I cannot display photos, but I like to share these differences and if we can timeline them.
The top has a very faint circle or depression around the 307 13# number. It has 6 small 1/16 inch holes into the indented bottom section with a 1/8 hole in the very center. The top rivot is identical it has a fairly deep round depression. They appear to be cad plated.
The other cap does not have the holes on the bottom, but just a metal cicle section about 1/2 inch wide around.
These are either made from different vendors or made differently for different years or other types of cars.
The font of the letters on the tops are identical. The AC 307underline 13# are both written on the left as the Turn Tight writing is on top, remove slowly on bottom and made in USA pat'd on the right.
Can anyone share some facts to these different yet identical caps?
Greg
