The exhaust U bolt hangers in the center, at the transmission, are listed as 3853726 with clamp 2385666 for the L75 on page D300 of AIM. (note, hard to read #'s)
The nuts holding these clamps are listed as "same as prod" However the L75 (assume L84 FI also) clearly shows a nut and lock washer combination while the smaller motors seem to show a one piece nut with shoulder washer built in (not sure of correct term here)
My parts book (P&A 71) shows the nut listed in Gr 8.915 (naturally not in book) which is a 5/16-18 and lock washer, however the diagram is for a 63 and it appears to be the small exhaust, 2". My P&A in Gr 3.708 does show a few hangers, but none as the listed number from the AIM, would believe they are replacement numbers by 1971.
YES - the question
What should the nuts be for a Mar64 FI with N11 exhaust and what's the finish?
Have some from a repro shop which are the solid nut with shoulder washer built in (not sure of correct term here)and finish is bright zinc, however their pipes did not fit so they may not know what should be with pipes. also notice their 2 1/2 clamp is much larger than the old one's I have which are marked 2 1/2. They are closer to 2 3/4"
Thanks in advance
Alan
