body lift advice

I'm about to pull the body on my 69 convert. Any tips would be most appreciated. My main concern is if there's any chance of damaging the body or bird cage due to flex when lifting it as I've been told that the bodies are quite flexible once removed from the frame. I have a body dolly ready and I intend to keep the doors on the car. My friend has advised putting the hard top on to add some extra ridgidity. How problematic is re-fitting the body after?. Also how did the factory set the gaps on the cars, was everything adjusted prior to the drop, or did they do the drop and then adjust doors etc?.
