    C1 steering column firewall seal/insulation

I cannot find a clear answer in archives or the assembly manual, so must ask:

On a C1 ('61), the steering column goes through the firewall, a hard rubber seal and the firewall insulation.

Is the hard rubber seal against the firewall with the insulation mounted over the hard rubber seal or is the insulation captured between the firewall and the hard rubber seal.

    Thanks.

Charles, I'm no expert, but my C1 (1954) goes firewall insulation, foam rubber seal, then the hard rubber seal. Your 61 may also have a plate and seal on the engine side of the firewall also. I just put my steering column in this week!

From the engine compartment going inside: metal plate, thin foam gasket, thick foam rubber seal, hard rubber seal with the 2 holes in it.
