Is it normal for a 1990 ZR1 on startup to go to 2000 rpms for a few seconds, then drop to 1500 for a few seconds, then to normal idle speed. I have been away from these cars for a while and I want to make sure this is not hurting anything. Thanks! Jim

Re: 1990 ZR1 Startup
After further research, I have located a bulletin # 47-65-03 Released January of 1994. It calls for the replacement of the MEM CAL "prom". This will reduce idle fluctuation on a hot start. Sometimes a customer may notice an increase in idle speed during decel during a vehicle coast with clutch depressed.
Might be something to look into. Sounds like yours is normal though.Tom Hendricks

Re: 1990 ZR1 Startup
Tom and Jim-----
I believe that the updated prom was GM #16163905. However, it's discontinued and I can't find any supercessive part number. Finding one might be a challenge---this was a 1990 ZR-1 only SERVICE piece. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
